父親: いつまでも親のすねをかじっていないで、仕事を見つけなさい!

息子: 見つけたくても、なかなか見つからないんだよ。

Romaji:
Chichi oya: Itsu made mo oya no sune o kajitte inaide shigoto o mitsukenasai!

Musuko : Mitsuke takutemo nakanaka mitsukaranainda yo.

Translation:
Father: You should find a job now rather than continually depend on me!

Son: I wish I had a job, too, but there aren't any to be had.

親のすねをかじる / Oya no sune o kajiru
Literally means “to bite one’s parent’s shin”. This expression refers to grown up children who are not able to live by themselves and still depend financially on their parent.


Another example
A: 彼女、また新車に変えたんだって。広いマンションに住んでるし、すごいよね。

B: 彼女は *親のすねかじりだからなぁ。
*名詞としても使える

Romaji:
A: Kanojo mata shinsha ni kaetan datte. Hiroi manshon ni sunderushi sugoi yo ne.

B: Kanojo wa oya no sune kajiri dakara naa.

Translation:
A: Did you hear that she has bought a new car again? She also has a big apartment. I wonder how she can afford it?

B: Yeah, she can do that because she still depends financially on her parents.
*This expression is used as a noun, which is "Oya no sunekajiri".
