Teachers Wanted
 KanjiStep is a non-profit organization trying to provide on-line teaching materials to student who are interested in studying Japanese, either for fun or with a goal to pass some of the four proficiency level tests. Since the launch of the site in 1999 we have been overwhelmed with positive comments and encouragements from people all over the world, putting us under pressure to provide more and more content. To satisfy the eager students we would like you to join us in helping making this site even more comprehensive.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER:
No money:  As mentioned before, we do not make money with this site and eventual donations or advertising revenues will be spent to cover the costs to just keep the service online.
Satisfaction:  As a KanjiStep team member you will get satisfaction in knowing that you help people around the world.
Experience:  Discuss with other teachers on content, make first hand experience with on-line teaching, meet people around the world.
Get Private Students:  Occasionally we are ask for private teachers. We will forward these studentfs requests to you and you are free to arrange with them private lessons.
Get your home page:  We will create a one page homepage on our site in the teachers section where you can add your profile and information about the classes and prices.
Career:  Well, most likely not with KanjiStep, but it always looks good in your profile or resume if you can state that you are part of teaching community.
Recognition:  Your name and a link to your home page on KanjiStep will be displayed with every piece of content you write.
Personal e-mail account:  We will setup an email account yourname@kanjistep.com with 50mb of free disk space.

WHAT WE EXPECT:
Teachers Degree:  You should be qualified teachers e.g. have a university degree or passed the Japanese teachers exams for teaching Japanese as a foreign language / for foreigners.
Commitment:  Preparing contents will take time. You will be given a responsibility which requires your commitment (3-5 hours a week). We would also expect you to work with us at least 6 months.
Teamwork:  You will discuss issues with other teachers and our web developers.
Creative mind:  We are flexible and donft want to lock you into one aspect of the website. New ideas are always welcome and if possible we will try to put them on-line.
Language:  We can communicate in Japanese, English and German. Speaking English or German is not a requirement but it would help.


By now you are probably asking yourself, which areas of KanjiStep.com you would be working on. Here are just a few examples...

Placement Tests:  We want to create placement tests for Level 1 and 2
Weekly tests:  Any of these sections need to be updated on a weekly basis. Depending on your experience create a test for a level you feel most comfortable with.
Daily Expressions:  Create new pages explaining a daily expression, illustrated by our illustrator.
Forums:  Communicate with people and help them answering their questions and solve their problems.
Others:  As the site grows you can help in any section or if you have a great idea, we can make it happen.
